The spas of Bagni di Lucca are situated in Bagni Caldi, 15 minutes distant from Villa Michaelis de Matrice.

Our spas were well known  even during the past. Also Romans made spa treatements in Bagni di Lucca and afterwards famous people such as Lord Byron, Eugenio Montale and Henry   James stayed in Bagni di Lucca in order to enjoy our natural spas.  There are two natural steam caves: the "Grotta Grande" and the smaller "Grotta Paolina", named in honor of Napoleon's sister, in which the internal temperature varies according to the height, so it is warmer to the height of the human trunk and lower at the feet. The sulphate-bicarbonate-calcium waters of the caves are considered useful for the treatment of rheumatic and stress pathologies.
